This is a new photograph of Stadium High School with a great view of the remodeled Bowl. The school will undergo an $85,000,000.00 remodel starting soon.
Tremendous shot of tall ship 'Lady Washington' passing below Stadium High.
This is the Shenandoah [AD26]. It is a hull that I worked on, as a welder, while employed at Todd Shipyard in Tacoma before joining the Ship Repair Unit [USNR-SRU] in 1944. By sheer coincidence I was assigned to this ship, which had been converted to a REPAIR SHIP and I was aboard for the commissioning in the fall of 1945. I am one of very few remaining who are recognized as a 'plank-owner' [sailors who were aboard at 'commissioning'] . . . in fact, I enjoy the unique privilege of being the the only 'plank-owner' who helped build the boat. I remained a member of the crew until discharged in late 1946. Great duty . . . wonderful memories [WWII was over before we went to sea!].
